MACDONALD, Mary Louise

Mary Louise MacDonald, 90, formerly of 305 Whitney Avenue, Sydney, Cape Breton passed away at St Vincent’s Nursing Home Halifax, on March 22, 2017.

She was the daughter of William and Mary Arsenault, Westmount. Mary was the wife of the late Webb MacDonald and mother of the late Stephen MacDonald, Toronto, ON.

She is survived by daughters, Jean McKee (Bill), Edmonds, WA and Marian MacKenzie (Tom), Fox Point, NS and son, Peter, Vancouver, BC; grandchildren, Luke MacKenzie (Cynthia) Moncton, NB; Sam MacKenzie, Toronto, ON; Jenna Wolfe (Nic) Seattle, WA; Kathleen McKee (Chris) Seattle, WA; three great-granddaughters, Clair, Paige and Tess; sister, Eileen Stonley, Coppercliff, ON and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother, Joseph Arsenault; sisters, Sofie Whitty, Rosie Chiasson, Ella Zong, Margaret Phelan and Sr. Jean William.

Mary attended St. Theresa’s church, taught Sunday school and was a member of their CWL. She also volunteered at a school breakfast program for several years and was a kind grandmother figure to the elementary students.

Special thanks go out to the staff of St. Vincent’s Nursing Home for the wonderful care she received the last two years. She loved them all. They won’t need as many tea bags now.

Memorial service Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2 p.m. at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Cremation has taken place.

Burial next to her loving husband in Sydney at a later date.
