It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Robert ‘Bob” Joseph Pyke, on April

2, 2017 at the

Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Archibald and Bella (Inkpen) Pike, Sydney.

Bob worked as a Stevedore at the government wharf for 40 years before entering a happy retirement. Besides his working career he was very involved in coaching hockey and rooting for the Montreal Canadians. Bob was also a second father to a lot of the neighbourh­ood kids; he was well liked by everyone who knew him because of his happy go lucky ways, and a smile that could light up a room.

Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years Brenda Walsh; children, Marilyn (William) Crane, Wanda (Michael) MacKinnon, George (Cheryl) Pyke, Brenda (Vic) Pyke; grandchild­ren, Ryan, Tyler, Shara, Karla, Stephanie, Jenna, Brittany, also Hayden Ray. Great grandchild, Avery. Sisters, Anna Bella Wambolt, Geraldine Smith, Sylvia (Gordon) Colbourne, Louise (Albert) Broussard, Carol (Earl) Jewer. Brothers George, David (Audrey), Charles (Gloria). Bob is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and members of the Walsh and Harris families.

Besides his parents Bob is predecease­d by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Shirley Harris; granddaugh­ter, Jennifer; siblings, Ameta Stephens, Archie, Wallace, and James in infancy.

Visitation for Bob will take place on Wednesday April 5, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, N.S. Funeral service will be held the following day, Thursday April 6, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiatin­g.
