With great sadness we regret to announce the passing of a devoted husband, father, grandfathe­r and greatgrand­father. Raymond, age

80, passed away peacefully at home, April

1, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in New Waterford he was the oldest son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Ryan) MacKenzie. Dad was a retired coal miner, a lifelong fan of harness racing and in his younger years he was an avid bowler. He was a member of the Parish of Saint Leonard’s and sang in the church choir for many years.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 60 years Annie Mae (Muise); children, Robert, Wayne (Karen), Cissy (Bob), Joanne (Mike), Mary (Ken), Darlene and Raymond (Nancy). He will also be sadly missed by his cherished grandchild­ren, Bradley, Lindsay, Roy, Sander, Robin, Mark, Courtney, Kenzie, Hunter, Blaire and great grandchild Chiara. Raymond is also survived by siblings, Cecilia, Hughie, Duncan, Marcie, Jimmy, Sandy, Wayne, Jerry and Bruce.

Besides his parents, he was also predecease­d by siblings, Matilda (in infancy), Angie, Murray and son-in-law Blair.

There will be no visitation as per Raymond’s request; cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.

The Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Ray Huntley will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in St. Leonard’s Church, Mt. Carmel Ave., New Waterford. A luncheon will immediatel­y follow at St. Leonard’s Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Raymond’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
