Weldon Charles Tutty, 89 of Sydney River, passed away Saturday April 8, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Campbell) Tutty.
Weldon was a member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Sydney River. He worked for 38 years between Dosco and Devco with various positions. Weldon was very active in the Riverview Y’s Men’s Club, where he served as past president, and District Governor. He was on the Trans Canada Trail Committee and was past chairman of Ducks Unlimited Cape Breton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, riding his ATV, skating and playing hockey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley (Fiander); daughters, Cheryl (Donald) MacLean, Mira Gut and Kim Tutty, at home; son, Ron (Audrey) Halifax; sister, June (Bruce) Sterns, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Amy (Nathan), Craig (Beth), Matthew, Jeffery (Amanda) and Mark (Micaela), and great granddaughters, Mya and Juliette.
Weldon was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Tutty; son, David; sisters, Verna Strasbourg, Elizabeth and Christine Tutty; brothers, Lincoln, Joe, Donald and Willard.
Funeral service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday April 12, 2017 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Reg MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Marks Cemetery.
