Whitney Pier

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Eileen, announce her passing into the hands of the Almighty Father on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the age of 85.

Our beautiful mother was a gentle and humble woman of great caring, love and respect for whoever she knew. In her younger years, she worked in display and storefront design for Woolworth’s Department Store. She volunteered and canvassed for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The one job she worked tirelessly was raising her five children and maintaining the household. She always got help from Yippie to sit and guard us in our strollers while she hung out the laundry and did her chores.

Eileen is survived by her five children, David, Montreal, Dwight, Vancouver, Keith, Sydney, Glenn, Oshawa and her ever loving daughter, Faith (Mike) Currie, New Waterford. She is also survived by her sister, Cecilia Marusiak; grandchildren, Mike Currie Jr., Melissa DiFlavio and Daniel Baldwin; three precious great-grandchildren, Brendon, Deklan and Edie Lou; two stepchildren, great guys, Daniel and Nicholas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great neighbours and friendships that lasted throughout her time with us.

Mom was predeceased by an angelic great-grandson, Bryson (in infancy). Also by the man she said she was going to marry and did, John David ‘Brother’ Baldwin; parents, Salvo and Frances Mizzi; sisters, Malita, Ester, Margaret, Mary and Rita; brothers, George and Eddie.

Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday from 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church on Saturday 10 a.m., with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.

We would like to thank Dr. Archibald for working with mom these final last months. We cannot thank enough the staff in 4B and the palliative care units. A very special thanks to James and the girls prayer group for the prayers, caring and mostly the presence of God’s love, which he has given us all to embrace and share.

Memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association
