PARSONS, Rick

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Rick Parsons, age 44, on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Rick was born in North Sydney on March 16, 1973. He worked for CBRM Public Works for the past 23 years and was very dedicated to his job. He enjoyed working with all his friends, especially Kevin Ivey, who he says never let him down during their working career together.

Rickey is survived by his mother, Elaine Boutilier (Joe); his father, Jim Parsons (Callista); his son, Matthew Parsons; daughter, Jessie Parsons and the mother of their children, Lisa Parsons; his sister, Tanya Carmichael (Charles) and brother, Bill Parsons (Julianna). He is also survived by his step-brother, Stan Boutilier; step-sister, Virginia Boutilier, many aunts, uncles, cousins and the special bond he shared with his Nanny Bailey.

Rickey had a sense of humour and was loved by all who knew him. He will be sadly missed and never be forgotten. In his heart, Rickey was dedicated to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and in the end, gave his whole heart to the Lord.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital who cared for Rickey in his last days. A special thank you to Dr. William Harless for his attentive care and compassion.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, Beech Street North Sydney, with Pastor David Streifling officiating.
