It is with great sadness and loving memories that we announce the sudden passing of Ronald Arthur Dinn (formerly of Beech St., Sydney) at the Cove Guest Home on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Born May 7, 1931, in Sydney, he was the son of the late Ronald and Sadie (Crane) Dinn.

Ronnie, who was a devoted Catholic, honoured numerous parishes with his presence. He served with the Merchant Marines and worked most of his life at L. E. Shaw Ltd., Sydney. Ronnie was always the spiriting force for the underdog and worked tirelessly for the labourer’s union.

A loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, great-grandfathe­r and brother, he is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sadie “Sis” (Hillier); daughters, Linda (George) Piercy, Deborah (Ray) Graham, both of Sydney and Gail (Charles) Ranni, Lower Sackville; son, David, Halifax; brother, William (Rita), Antigonish; ten grandchild­ren and seven great-grandchild­ren.

He was welcomed into heaven by his daughter, Patricia “Patti” Bonaparte; brothers, Richard and Gerard and sister, Ann Aulenback.

Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday from 7-9 p.m.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Theresa’s Church on Friday 2 p.m., with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiatin­g. Interment will take place at a later date.

A special thank you to the staff at the Cove Guest Home for their loving care of our husband and father.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Society, the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or the Cove Guest Home.
