LAHEY, Michael Howard ‘Mike’

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mike Lahey, 67 of Donkin, on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Halifax Infirmary Hospital.

Born in Windsor, Ontario, he was the son of Annie (Doyle) Lahey and the late Michael ‘Buddy’ Lahey.

Mike held various jobs throughout his lifetime. He worked as a lumberjack out west as well as home, he worked on fishing boats and most recently retired from Zellers Store, Toronto, where he met his wife. Mike loved the outdoors and was an avid dart player. He was a member of the RCL Branch 55, Port Morien. Mike will be remembered as a very social man and a great son and brother.

Mike is survived by his wife, Patricia (Illingwort­h) Lahey; one daughter, Melissa and stepdaught­er, Elizabeth, both in ON; three sons, Michael, Jason (Leone), both in ON, Mark (April), Sydney Mines; stepsons, Robert (Lisa), NL and Paul, BC; three brothers, Greg, Ottawa, Vince (Steve), NB and Paul (Rita), Victoria Mines; two sisters, Theresa (Rick), ON and Neilena (Ralph), BC; nine grandchild­ren, and two aunts, Connie Dube, North Sydney and Laura King, Glace Bay.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday Evening from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral service is Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding. A reception will follow at the Donkin Legion.
