LA­HEY, Michael Howard ‘Mike’

It is with deep sad­ness that we an­nounce the sud­den pass­ing of Mike La­hey, 67 of Donkin, on Fri­day, April 28, 2017 at the Hal­i­fax In­fir­mary Hos­pi­tal.

Born in Wind­sor, On­tario, he was the son of An­nie (Doyle) La­hey and the late Michael ‘Buddy’ La­hey.

Mike held var­i­ous jobs through­out his life­time. He worked as a lum­ber­jack out west as well as home, he worked on fish­ing boats and most re­cently re­tired from Zellers Store, Toronto, where he met his wife. Mike loved the out­doors and was an avid dart player. He was a mem­ber of the RCL Branch 55, Port Morien. Mike will be re­mem­bered as a very so­cial man and a great son and brother.

Mike is sur­vived by his wife, Pa­tri­cia (Illing­worth) La­hey; one daugh­ter, Melissa and step­daugh­ter, El­iz­a­beth, both in ON; three sons, Michael, Ja­son (Leone), both in ON, Mark (April), Syd­ney Mines; step­sons, Robert (Lisa), NL and Paul, BC; three broth­ers, Greg, Ot­tawa, Vince (Steve), NB and Paul (Rita), Vic­to­ria Mines; two sis­ters, Theresa (Rick), ON and Neilena (Ralph), BC; nine grand­chil­dren, and two aunts, Con­nie Dube, North Syd­ney and Laura King, Glace Bay.

Cre­ma­tion has taken place. Vis­i­ta­tion will be held on Fri­day Evening from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGil­livray Fu­neral Home, 16 Re­serve Street, Glace Bay. The fu­neral ser­vice is Satur­day morn­ing at 11 a.m. in the fu­neral home chapel, Fr. Nor­man MacPhee pre­sid­ing. A re­cep­tion will fol­low at the Donkin Le­gion.
