It is with deep sad­ness and bro­ken hearts we re­gret to an­nounce the pass­ing of a won­der­ful hus­band and fa­ther, on Wed­nes­day May 3, 2017 sur­rounded by his fam­ily in the Pal­lia­tive Care unit of the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Hospi­tal.

Born in Syd­ney Don­ald (83) was the son of the late James and Cather­ine (Mac­Don­ald) MacKin­non.

Dee, as he was known as, led an ac­tive life; he en­joyed many sports such as base­ball, bowl­ing, curl­ing, and hunt­ing. He was an ac­tive mem­ber and past ex­ec­u­tive of the Ashby Legion Branch 138. He was a mem­ber and cast of the Cape Bre­ton Barn Dance, and a re­tired ware­house man­ager from Dom­cor.

He is sur­vived by lov­ing wife, Mary Louis (Thomp­son) MacKin­non; chil­dren, DJ, Kathy, Colin (Va­lerie) and Rob­bie (Tammy); eight grand­chil­dren, Jonathan, Natasha, Hai­ley, Kristo­pher, Alexan­der, Sa­man­tha, Em­malee and Bobby, and one great grand­child, Thomas.

Visi­ta­tion will be Fri­day, May 5, 2017 from 12-2 p.m., Fu­neral Ser­vice to fol­low at 2 p.m. both in the SW Chant and Son Fu­neral Home, 564 Alexan­dra Street, Syd­ney, NS. Fa­ther Bill Burke of­fi­ci­at­ing.

In lieu of flow­ers me­mo­rial do­na­tions may be made to the Ashby Legion Branch 138.
