Sydney man jailed on drunk driving charges
SYDNEY — A 25-year-old Sydney man has been sentenced to jail after pleading guilty to charges relating to drunk driving.
Robert Francis Murphy, 25, of Johnston Street was sentenced to serve 110 days in a provincial jail after pleading guilty to two counts of driving with a blood/alcohol level exceeding the legal limit, three counts of driving while disqualified and a single count of failing to attend court. The impaired offences occurred in 2016 on May 20 and again on Aug. 28. In addition to the jail sentence, Murphy’s driving privileges were suspended for two years. He is also to complete a one-year probation period.
