Syd­ney man jailed on drunk driv­ing charges

SYD­NEY — A 25-year-old Syd­ney man has been sen­tenced to jail after plead­ing guilty to charges re­lat­ing to drunk driv­ing.

Robert Fran­cis Mur­phy, 25, of John­ston Street was sen­tenced to serve 110 days in a pro­vin­cial jail after plead­ing guilty to two counts of driv­ing with a blood/al­co­hol level ex­ceed­ing the le­gal limit, three counts of driv­ing while dis­qual­i­fied and a sin­gle count of fail­ing to at­tend court. The im­paired of­fences oc­curred in 2016 on May 20 and again on Aug. 28. In ad­di­tion to the jail sen­tence, Mur­phy’s driv­ing priv­i­leges were sus­pended for two years. He is also to com­plete a one-year pro­ba­tion pe­riod.
