National code learning day set for May 13
SYDNEY — An in-person workshop will be held on Saturday, May 13 for girls and their parents to learn the skill of animation. Simultaneously, hundreds of girls will be attending similar workshops across Canada.
The Sydney workshop will be held at UIT Startup Immersion in the New Dawn Centre for Social Innovation in downtown Sydney.
The event will run from 1-4 p.m. and is open to girls aged 8-13 as well as a parent or guardian. Ladies Learning Code is a national not-for-profit that offers beginner-friendly tech education. On the fourth annual code day, girls and their parents will learn about technology, experience the satisfaction that comes from being a builder of technology, build and develop a fun, interactive game to share with family and friends, and build confidence and develop a willingness to try new things.
At the end of the workshop, each girl will get to present their creation made through the program Scratch.
