Bail hearing set for Sydney man on drug, weapon charges
SYDNEY — A Sydney man is expected to return to court today for a bail hearing on drug charges.
Stephen Bruce MacDonald, 54, of Townsend Street, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine and two counts of possession of prohibited weapons without a licence — bear spray and an ASP baton. MacDonald made a brief court appearance Thursday and was remanded pending the outcome of today’s bail hearing.
A 42-year-old man was also arrested in connection with MacDonald and is charged with three counts of breaching court orders.
The accused was released by police on a promise to appear notice and is to appear in court July 17 to enter pleas.
His name has not been released as the information is not yet filed with the court.
