Hubert Thomas ‘Tommy’ Williams, 84, of Neil’s Harbour, passed away, Sunday, April 30, 2017 in the Coronary Care Unit at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney Nova Scotia.

Born in Neil’s Harbour, he was the son of the late Hubert and Alice (Strickland) Williams.

Tommy managed the Cooperator­s store in Neil’s Harbour for 25 years and retired in 1992. Tommy loved life and telling stories about the history of Neil’s Harbour and Cape Breton Island. He was full of devilment and tomfoolery, cracking jokes and singing his own “made up” funny tunes and jingles that made us all laugh.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lorraine (MacKinnon) Williams; sons, Hubert (Christine) Williams, Jude Williams, Tony (Tracey) Williams; daughters, Virginia (Kenny) Dowling, Phyllis (Tony) Williams, Amanda (Anas) Williams; granddaugh­ter, Gillian (Amine), Marissa, Chelsey, Tessa; grandsons, Kevin, Josh, Connor; great-granddaugh­ter, Haya Outa Bachi; great-grandsons, Thomas McKinnon and Louay Outa Bachi; son-in-law, Blair Blundon, and a special person, John Cunningham to whom he thought of as his son, and numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.

Tommy was predecease­d by his daughter, Willena (Williams) Blundon; father, Hubert Williams; mother, Alice (Strickland); brothers, John, Wilbert, Owen and Stewart; sisters, Dorothy, Elizabeth, Ellen, Phyllis, Marion, and Shirley.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday 8, 2017 of May at the St Joseph’s Church in Dingwall, Cape Breton.
