With sadness the family of Joseph Allan MacLean announce his passing on May 2, 2017. Born on September 3, 1942 in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

He was predecease­d by his wife of 46 years, Sadie Mae MacLean (MacNeil) and his sister, Ann Marie MacLean.

His kind and generous heart will be deeply missed by sons, John (Penny), Jason (Kathy), David (Tanya) and Joshua (Cynthia), all of Toronto; brothers, Ed (Lois Beaton), Halifax and Charlie (Daryl Harding), Toronto; and sisters, Clare Sasco (Donnie), Sydney and Joan (Carson) (Pete), Canmore, Alberta; beloved grandchild­ren, Kieran, Owen, Tristan, Teagan, Wyatt, Willem and Adriana, and by his companion Sharise MacKeigan.

Allan was raised on the Morley Road in East Bay Cape Breton NS and moved to Hamilton, Ontario, in 1963 living in Hamilton, Stoney Creek and Ancaster. He enjoyed a 45 year career with UA local 67 Plumbers and Pipefitter­s.

He retired to North Side East Bay, Island view in 2001 where he delighted in renovating the house and cultivatin­g his ever expanding garden. Allan had a keen interest in meeting people. He loved working in the woods with his chainsaw, in his garden on the tractor, hiking and paddling. Allan was very involved with Dragon boating both with the Cape Breastoner­s and The Sydney Harbour Dragon Boat Club.

Visitation will be at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, May 8, 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s church in East Bay.
