With sad­ness the fam­ily of Joseph Al­lan MacLean an­nounce his pass­ing on May 2, 2017. Born on Septem­ber 3, 1942 in Syd­ney, Nova Sco­tia.

He was pre­de­ceased by his wife of 46 years, Sadie Mae MacLean (MacNeil) and his sis­ter, Ann Marie MacLean.

His kind and gen­er­ous heart will be deeply missed by sons, John (Penny), Ja­son (Kathy), David (Tanya) and Joshua (Cyn­thia), all of Toronto; broth­ers, Ed (Lois Beaton), Hal­i­fax and Char­lie (Daryl Hard­ing), Toronto; and sis­ters, Clare Sasco (Don­nie), Syd­ney and Joan (Car­son) (Pete), Can­more, Al­berta; beloved grand­chil­dren, Kieran, Owen, Tris­tan, Tea­gan, Wy­att, Willem and Adri­ana, and by his com­pan­ion Sharise MacKeigan.

Al­lan was raised on the Mor­ley Road in East Bay Cape Bre­ton NS and moved to Hamilton, On­tario, in 1963 liv­ing in Hamilton, Stoney Creek and An­caster. He en­joyed a 45 year ca­reer with UA lo­cal 67 Plum­bers and Pip­efit­ters.

He re­tired to North Side East Bay, Is­land view in 2001 where he de­lighted in ren­o­vat­ing the house and cul­ti­vat­ing his ever ex­pand­ing gar­den. Al­lan had a keen in­ter­est in meet­ing peo­ple. He loved work­ing in the woods with his chain­saw, in his gar­den on the trac­tor, hik­ing and pad­dling. Al­lan was very in­volved with Dragon boat­ing both with the Cape Brea­s­t­on­ers and The Syd­ney Har­bour Dragon Boat Club.

Visi­ta­tion will be at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 Ge­orge St., Syd­ney on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Fu­neral Mass will take place on Mon­day, May 8, 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s church in East Bay.

Con­do­lences may be for­warded to the fam­ily by vis­it­ing Do­na­tions in Al­lan’s mem­ory may be made to the Spe­cial Olympics.
