MACDONALD, Allister D

-

Gabarus Lake

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Allister D MacDonald, inform you of his passing on May 6, 2017. Born January 21, 1933, he was a lifelong resident of Gabarus Lake. He was the son of the late Alex Angus and Dora (nee: MacLeod) MacDonald.

Over his lifetime, he was a hard, conscientious worker. Whether it was working in Sterling mine, cutting pulp in the woods or working as a hewer of wood at the Fortress of Louisbourg, Allister always gave a full days work for a days pay. His dry sense of humour and love and dedication to his family were the traits that made him loved by his family and many friends.

Allister is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pearl (MacLeod) MacDonald and his two daughters who he loved dearly, Shirley (Alfie) MacLeod, Gabarus Lake and Susan (Rick) Charbonneau, Rockland, ON.

Papa leaves behind five grandchildren, Sandra (Sol) Linklater, Howie Center, Shawn (Christina) Charbonneau, Rockland, ON, Jessica (Joe) MacLeod, Howie Center, Kyle (Alyssa) Charbonneau, Wendover, ON and Daniel (Amber) MacLeod, Gabarus Lake.

Allister was ‘old Papa’ to, Logan, Keigan, Emma, Nolan, Rylee, Caleb and Ryan.

He also survived by his sister, Catherine Newton, Sydney, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Angus (Mary), and brother-inlaws, Charlie Gwynn and Francis Newton.

Thanks to the staff of 4B and 4E, Palliative Care Unit of the CBRH. Also thanks to Dr. Jim MacKillop, Dr. Ann Francis D’Intino and Dr. George Burns.
