It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond (Ray) Campbell, 85, at the Glace Bay Hospital on May 7, 2017 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Michael and Margaret (MacDonald) Campbell.

In his early years Ray was employed with Dominion Coal Company and later at the Sydney Steel Plant. Ray was a faithful and active member of St. Anne’s Church. He was a member of the Lay Carmelite Order and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Ray was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Kathleen ‘Bea’ (MacQueen); son, J.J. (Brenda), Red Deer, Alberta; daughter, Janice (Cedric) Pettipas, Halifax; son Raymond Jr., at home; two grandchild­ren, Courtney (Tyler) Johnston, Red Deer, Hawley (Kalem), Edmonton, and also his sister, Valerie LeBlanc, Coxheath.

He is predecease­d by his brother, Roddie.

Cremation and funeral arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialist, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, 902-849-4199.

A Funeral Mass will be Friday May 12, 2017 at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Leo Boone officiatin­g.
