Safety award win­ners

Five award win­ners were an­nounced last week as part of the fifth an­nual Safety First in Cape Bre­ton sym­po­sium.

The five in­di­vid­ual and or­ga­ni­za­tions were rec­og­nized for their ded­i­cated ef­fort to ef­fec­tive work­place health and safety poli­cies and ini­tia­tives.

The awards were spon­sored by the Cape Bre­ton Part­ner­ship, Nova Sco­tia De­part­ment of Labour and Ad­vanced Ed­u­ca­tion and the Work­ers’ Com­pen­sa­tion Board of Nova Sco­tia.

“All of the Safety First in Cape Bre­ton award win­ners demon­strate true lead­er­ship, in­no­va­tion and com­mit­ment to the ef­fec­tive de­liv­ery of work­place health and safety train­ing and pro­to­cols,” said Keith MacDon­ald, pres­i­dent and CEO of the Cape Bre­ton Part­ner­ship.

The awards were handed out dur­ing the an­nual safety sym­po­sium held Fri­day at Cape Bre­ton Univer­sity.

The event is the only one of its kind on the is­land and its or­ga­niz­ers are com­mit­ted to mak­ing Cape Bre­ton the safest place to work and do busi­ness.
