Rose Agnes Laffin (Gouthro), age 62, passed away qui­etly in her sleep in QE II Vic­to­ria Gen­eral crit­i­cal care unit Sun­day, May 7, 2017 with her fam­ily at her side. Rose was the daugh­ter of the late Arthur and Chris­tene (Leaver) Gouthro.

Born in North Syd­ney Rose moved to Dart­mouth at age 16 to live with her sis­ter. She soon found em­ploy­ment at T. Ea­ton Co, for whom she worked at both Hal­i­fax Shop­ping Cen­ter and Mic Mac Mall un­til its clo­sure. Afer­wards, she worked for many years at Wal­Mart Pen­horn. Rose was a lov­ing wife, mother, grand­mother and sis­ter. She loved her fam­ily and en­joyed a fun fam­ily gath­er­ing, par­tic­u­larly Box­ing Day at Georgie’s.

Rose adored her chil­dren and grand­sons. Nanny cher­ished the time spent with her grand­sons, es­pe­cially the weekend vis­its.

Rose is sur­vived by lov­ing hus­band of 42 years, Dougie; son, Mark (Tammy); daugh­ter, Lau­ren (Ross Hunter); grand­sons, Ryan and Jakob; sis­ters, Ge­orgina (Arthur Mil­lett), Betty (Greg Laffin); brother, Leonard (Linda), and many nieces and neph­ews.

Be­sides her par­ents she was pre­de­ceased by broth­ers, Stan and Den­nis.

Many thanks to staff of Vic­to­ria Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal, es­pe­cially Dr. Scott Liv­ing­stone and his team. Also the doc­tors and nurses of 6B step­down unit and Crit­i­cal Care unit.

In lieu of flow­ers do­na­tions may be made to QE II foun­da­tion.

Fu­neral ar­range­ments cared for by Dart­mouth Fu­neral Home. Cre­ma­tion has taken place. Vis­i­ta­tion will Mon­day, May 15 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., at St. Vin­cent de Paul Ro­man Catholic Church, Fly­ing Cloud Dr. Cole Har­bour. Fu­neral Mass will be held at the same lo­ca­tion Tues­day, May 16 at 10 a.m. fol­lowed by a re­cep­tion. A pri­vate fam­ily cer­e­mony will take place af­ter re­cep­tion.
