Celia Murline Lorway was born in Layou, St. Vin­cent and the Gre­nadines on De­cem­ber 10, 1944 of Dorothy Bow­man and Wil­liam Ben­jamin Charles, and died peace­fully in her home in Syd­ney with her daugh­ter Verne at her bed­side on May 6, 2017.

Celia was pre­de­ceased by her par­ents and her older sis­ters, Zina Gar­raway, Mavis Had­away and Verna Ijoma.

Her liv­ing fam­ily mem­bers in­clude her brother, Win­ston (San­dra) Charles; sis­ter, Mon­ica Bow­man and their fam­i­lies; her son, Charles (Kelly); daugh­ter, Verne; son, Robert; daugh­ter, No­rah; their fa­ther, Charles, and by her pre­cious grand­daugh­ters, Ava and Alyssa Lorway.

Celia was a reg­is­tered nurse and philoso­pher of health who was ac­tive in the univer­sity and larger com­mu­nity through nu­mer­ous work and vol­un­teer ac­tiv­i­ties. Her con­ta­gious laugh­ter and end­less com­pas­sion for oth­ers will live on in those who knew her well.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be held Fri­day, May 12, 2017 at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 Ge­orge St., Syd­ney from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

The Fu­neral Mass will be cel­e­brated at Our Lady of Fa­tima Church in Syd­ney River at 11 a.m. Satur­day, May 13, 2017 with Fr. Bill Burke of­fi­ci­at­ing.
