It is with heavy hearts that we an­nounce the pass­ing of our mother, grand­mother and great-grand­mother, Agnes Lena (Mel­nick) Rogers on May 19, 2017 at the Glace Bay Health Com­plex.

Agnes was the daugh­ter of the late John and Anne Mel­nick.

She was a Vet­eran of the Sec­ond World War serv­ing with the Cana­dian Army. Agnes held many jobs over the years in­clud­ing Jays Restau­rant when it was on Com­mer­cial St., in Glace Bay and Rosen­blums Ladies Wear. Mom loved cook­ing, bak­ing, gar­den­ing and she loved to trout fish and ice fish, she did so un­til the age of 91. Agnes loved a good game of Texas hold’em with her sons and their friends. She was a reg­u­lar at the Casino on Thurs­day nights. She had a tremen­dous sense of hu­mor and kept that un­til the very end. Agnes was a de­voted Catholic and a mem­ber of Holy Cross Parish.

Agnes is sur­vived and loved by her three sons, Bernie(Jan­ice) Glace Bay, Blair(Char­lotte) Glace Bay, Barry(Donna) Re­serve Mines; two daugh­ters, Bev­erly(Robert) Gil­bert Amherst, Brenda(Pierre) Des Roches, Monc­ton and daugh­ter-in-law, Donna Rogers, Oshawa, On­tario; 10 grand­chil­dren; two step grand­chil­dren and sev­en­teen great-grand­chil­dren.

Agnes was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band, Robert; son, Bryne; broth­ers, John, Stan­ley, Frankie, Joe and sis­ters, Stella, He­len, Mary, An­nie and Wanda.

In hon­our­ing her wishes there will be no vis­i­ta­tion. Cre­ma­tion has taken place un­der the di­rec­tion of TJ Tracey Cre­ma­tion and Burial Spe­cial­ists 370 Re­serve St., Glace Bay, (902)849-4199.

Funeral will be Held on Mon­day, May 22, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Parish with Fa­ther Leo Boone Of­fi­ci­at­ing, re­cep­tion to fol­low in Parish base­ment.

In lieu of flow­ers do­na­tions can be made to the Hospice Pal­lia­tive Care So­ci­ety of Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Hospi­tal or a char­ity of ones choice.
