It is with great sad­ness that we, the fam­ily, an­nounce the pass­ing of Daniel (Dan) Wil­liam Grace on May 19, 2017 at the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Hos­pi­tal af­ter a hard-fought bat­tle with ill­ness over the past sev­eral years. Dan was born on Fe­bru­ary 3, 1942 in New Water­ford and worked as a coal miner for most of his work­ing life. He en­joyed the out­doors, hunt­ing and fish­ing with his broth­ers, fam­ily camp­ing trips and time around the hockey rink. Dan was a proud fam­ily-man who ap­pre­ci­ated a pas­sion­ate con­ver­sa­tion, was very lov­ing to his fam­ily and es­pe­cially proud of his five grand­chil­dren. Dan loved his dogs Buffy and Peb­bles.

Sur­viv­ing are his three sons, Paul (Lori) Grace of Oshawa, ON, Steven (Sherri) Grace of New Water­ford and Brian (Carol) Grace of Tim­ber­lea, NS; his ex­tended fam­ily, spe­cial part­ner, Eve­lyn Tighe and her sons, John Blair (Ash­ley) Tighe of New Water­ford and Troy Tighe of Ed­mon­ton, AB. Dan was Pop­pie to five grand­chil­dren, Liam, Mitchell, Madi­son, Lau­ren and Olivia, who were dear to his heart.

Dan is also sur­vived by his broth­ers, Ray­mond (Deb­bie) Grace of Lin­gan Rd. and Eddy (Betty) Grace of New Water­ford; his sis­ters, Carmel (Jed) Miller of New Water­ford, Kay (Donnie) MacGil­livray of New Water­ford and Jessie (Dave) Picco of Mira; sis­ter-in-laws, Bar­bra Grace of New Water­ford and Bar­bra Reid of ON; brother-in-law, Rus­sell Muise, and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews.

Be­sides his par­ents, Daniel and An­nie Grace, Dan was also pre­de­ceased by his lov­ing wife, Irene, and his broth­ers, Wal­ter and Birt.

Dan’s sons, Paul, Steven and Brian would like to ex­tend a heart­felt thank-you to Eve­lyn who pro­vided pas­sion­ate care and com­pan­ion­ship for Dan to his death.

Cre­ma­tion has taken place. A chapel ser­vice will be held on Wednes­day, May 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the fu­neral home chapel with Dea­con Leo Penny of­fi­ci­at­ing. The ser­vice will be fol­lowed by a lun­cheon at the K.O.C., Plum­mer Ave., in which all are in­vited to help cel­e­brate his life. Burial will be at a later date. Fu­neral ar­range­ments are un­der the di­rec­tion of McLel­lan Broth­ers Fu­neral Home, 3183 Plum­mer Ave., New Water­ford, 902-862-7500.
