It is with great sad­ness we, the fam­ily, an­nounce the sud­den pass­ing of Karen Ann Hef­fer­nan, age 53, on Fri­day, May 19, 2017.

Born in New Water­ford, she was a daugh­ter of the late Ja­nis (McMullin) and James Hef­fer­nan.

Karen was a light in ev­ery­one’s life that knew her. She was a lov­ing mother, sis­ter, aunt and friend that would do any­thing for some­one in need. Karen cher­ished her fam­ily and faith above all else.

She leaves be­hind to mourn her loss the fa­ther of her son, Lloyd Hutchin­son; son, James Hef­fer­nan, who was her pride and joy; sis­ters, Verna (Bo) Gil­lis, Ja­nis Attwood (Davey), Joan Hef­fer­nan, all of New Vic­to­ria; brother, Jimmy (Jen­nifer) Hef­fer­nan; sis­ter-in-law, Tracy Hef­fer­nan of New Water­ford. Karen will also be greatly missed by her many spe­cial nieces, neph­ews, cousins and friends, Shauna Gil­lis, Becky Fiore, Mary Lead­beater and Shauna Ka­vanaugh, who were like sis­ters to her; spe­cial friends, Donna and Ned Dar­ling, and ‘the Girls’, their chil­dren, Natalie and Amy, and her spe­cial lit­tle com­pan­ion, her dog, Oreo.

Be­sides her par­ents, Karen was pre­de­ceased by her younger brother, Tommy Hef­fer­nan and her grand­mother, Remigous (Marsh) McMullin.

There will be no visi­ta­tion. Cre­ma­tion has taken place un­der the care and di­rec­tion of V.J. McGil­livray Fu­neral Home, 380 Smith St., New Water­ford. A Fu­neral Mass of cel­e­bra­tion will be held on Thurs­day, May 25 at 2 p.m. in the Par­ish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Av­enue, New Water­ford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Ceme­tery, New Vic­to­ria, with a lun­cheon to fol­low at St. Leonard’s Par­ish Hall, Con­vent Street.
