Trial date set for Syd­ney Mines man on weapon of­fence

SYD­NEY — A Syd­ney Mines man is sched­uled to stand trial in June on charges that in­clude a weapon’s of­fence.

John Charles Ford, 42, is to stand trial on pos­ses­sion of a weapon danger­ous to pub­lic peace (a gun), ut­ter­ing a threat, un­law­ful en­try and three counts of breach­ing court or­ders. A pro­vin­cial court trial is now set for June 9.

Also, Ford is to be sen­tenced May 31 on two counts of ut­ter­ing threats.

The of­fences are al­leged to have oc­curred in 2016 in North Syd­ney.
