Trial date set for Sydney Mines man on weapon offence

SYDNEY — A Sydney Mines man is scheduled to stand trial in June on charges that include a weapon’s offence.

John Charles Ford, 42, is to stand trial on possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace (a gun), uttering a threat, unlawful entry and three counts of breaching court orders. A provincial court trial is now set for June 9.

Also, Ford is to be sentenced May 31 on two counts of uttering threats.

The offences are alleged to have occurred in 2016 in North Sydney.
