STUBBERT, Elizabeth Ann ‘Betty’

-

Gardiner Mines

It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Betty Stubbert, announce her sudden passing on May 25, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Glace Bay, in 1942, she was the daughter of John Joe and Elizabeth Jean ‘Lib’ (Farrow) Gouthro.

Betty had eight children who kept her busy but she also took in numerous foster children. There was always room in her home and heart for children. She enjoyed staying active and participated in activities; such as baseball, skating, darts, bowling, walking, and of course her many hours riding her John Deere tractor. She also enjoyed dancing and a good game of cards.

Betty will be sadly missed by her three sons; five daughters; 16 grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; two brothers, and five sisters.

Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Bobby in 2001, and four brothers.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mira Bay, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, for the care and attention they provided to her.

Visitation will held today, Monday, May 29, 2017, from 7- 9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church basement.

Interment will take place at St. James Cemetery, Gardiner Mines.
