Mrs. Helen Catherine (Pardy) MacLennan, 78 of Sydney Mines, formerly of Florence, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017.

Born in Florence on August 31, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Randall and Kathleen (MacGillivray) Pardy.

Our mother was a homemaker who loved music, cooking and her daily telephone conversations with each family member. Before she lost her vision, she enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and her many crafts. She enjoyed people dropping in for a visit or a chat. She also enjoyed her Sunday drives to Baddeck and around the trail with Dad. She was a kind, caring, compassionate person who always saw the good in people. We will miss her more than words can say.

Helen will be missed dearly by her loving husband, Bill MacLennan; four daughters, Judy, Cheryl, Rebecca and Valerie Forrest; four sons, Terry, Brian, Donald and Chris; grandchildren, Ryan M. Foss, Ali Gazami, Matthew and Cody Forrest and Vanessa MacLennan; one sister, Rhodena (Howard) MacLennan, and one brother, Neil Pardy. She is also survived by special son-in-law, Peter.

Helen was predeceased by son, William James; daughter, Donna Marie; brothers, Frank, James and Ralph Pardy, and by her sister, Mary (Mae) Brown.

In Keeping with Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines. There will be a private family graveside service held at Brookside Cemetery at a later date.
