Our Dad, Grampie, brother and uncle has left this life very unexpected­ly. His sudden passing has left our family very sad and heartbroke­n. Art Billard passed away May 31, 2017 at the CBRH with his loving family at his side.

Art was born in Glace Bay on November 28, 1930, son of the late Sam and Effie Billard. He was a wonderful father to, Gary (Sylvia), PEI, Todd, GB and Wendy, GB; daughter-in-law, Debbie, and grandchild­ren, Ashley (Andrew), Alicia (Jeff) and Joedy (Patricia).

He is survived by his sister, Marie Ward, and several sisters and brothers-in-law, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Art had numerous jobs in life but his most memorable job was being a Driver Examiner where he met many people and made lasting friendship­s. In his younger years he and Mary-Lou spent their summers in Isaac Harbour and later had a trailer in Ben Eoin which Art enjoyed until his last days with us. Monday night he spent bowling with his buddies and he always wanted to win as he was not a good loser. He spent hours playing cards, he loved playing hockey, baseball and horseshoes. Art was predecease­d by his wife, Mary-Lou (Whalen) in 2015, and his son, Sandy in 2006; sister, Gloria, and brother, Lewis.

Visitation for Mr. Billard will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 2 at Patten Funeral Home, Union St., Glace Bay with funeral service on Saturday, June 3 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Glace Bay.
