RUTHERFORD, George (Premer)

-

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, father, brother, grandfather, Uncle and Friend George E. Rutherford.

Born in Sydney, January 29, 1967, he was the son of Shirley (MacQuarrie) and the late David ‘Creamer’ Rutherford.

George was a laborer out West and a member of Local 92. For many years he also worked in Ontario with the horses.

Beginning at an early age, George found his passion and true love for Horses and Betting. George was well known for his sense of humor; there was always a laugh when Premer was around. He was also known for his quick wit and “one liners”.

When at home, George spent a lot of time at his Favorite spot - “Prem’s Palace” in Loch Lomond sailing with the Captain waiting for the weekenders to show up. When not at the Bungalow, he spent a lot of time with the “Boys” from the Hill and the guys from The Track.

Besides his mother, Shirley, he is survived by his son, Jordan MacLeod; daughters, Jessica MacLeod and Shanna MacDonald and granddaughter, Lexi. Also survived by his brother, David (Slick) Joanne; sisters, Charlene ‘Sharky’, Dale (Steve) Coadic and Brenda (Joe) Johnstone and Rhonda Stanley. He also enjoyed the time he spent spoiling his niece, Kaylee. He was also survived by and adored his several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

Besides his father he was predeceased by brothers, Wayne and Allan (Dink).

George was a loving, kind, caring person who was a friend to all who knew him.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Saturday, June 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 with Memorial Service, Sunday, June 4 at 3 p.m. both from the SW Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra Street, Sydney.
