Hold on, it’s not over

People who help others can grow weary while doing good

- Kevin Mattatal

There are usually only two times in life when we can be easily offended.

It’s either when we are sinking low or when things are flying high. At these times we need to look inward to humble ourselves and allow God to be in control.

The first one is low tide when we feel weary, worn out, and tired. Life has passed us more than we can handle. There seems to be too many bills, too much stress, too many problems at home, too many worries at work, and our mind can’t stop racing at high speed.

Galatians 6:9 “...let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”

People who help others can grow weary while doing good. God knows where we are and He hears us when we pray. Even when we want to give up He asks us not to lose heart but to keep the faith. It may be hard in a season of darkness to find light but seasons change and our reward is coming to us if we can hold on to hope.

My son in law Mark Tobin wrote a worship song called, ‘Hold On.’ In the song it tells us that there are many good things that come from our God so hold on it’s not over. We all have times when we don’t understand what in the world is going on but if we could understand that it’s in those moments of doubt that we need to hold on to hope for God is good.

The second time we can be easily offended is when things are going good and we begin to think that we are somehow better than other people. We can judge others as less than us because they seem to have accomplished less than us.

We credit our success as the results of our own self-effort and if others would only apply themselves then they could become almost as great as we think we are.

Proverbs 13:10 “By pride comes nothing but strife, but with the well-advised is wisdom.”

The amount of strife in your life can often be measured as the distance between who you think you are and who you think others are. To the welladvised we are to walk in divine wisdom knowing that if it had not been for God’s mercy and grace where would we be.

Wisdom knows that your next breath belongs to God and if He chooses to take it from us then we are gone. Whether you have been hurt at a low time or a high time isn’t it about time to get better?

How long are you willing to stay under the burden of that past offence? One more day, one more year, five more years or are you willing to take it to the grave?

James 4:10 “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

You have the power to make a choice but once you make a decision your choice has the power to direct your future. You can choose to be lifted up by the hand of Almighty God or you can choose to remain cast down.

We have all made past mistakes but don’t make a present mistake and miss out on a much brighter future. Call upon Jesus for He loves you and waits to help you, heal you, and bring you into wholeness.

Find a good church to attend where you will receive love from other people and freedom from the Lord. God bless you all.
