One Cape Bretoner heard his name called during the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft in Saint John, N.B. on Saturday.

Jack Morris of the Cape Breton West Islanders was drafted by the Rimouski Océanic with the No. 184 overall pick in round 11 of the 14-round entry draft.

Morris, a 15-year-old defenceman, is originally from Port Hood, but has lived most of his life in Antigonish.

In 34 regular season games with Cape Breton West, Morris posted two goals and 15 points. He also added a goal and six points in 11 playoff games.

Morris was part of the Islanders club that captured provincial, Atlantic and Telus Cup titles this past season.

The Cape Breton Post was unable to reach Morris for comment.

Morris joins teammate Colten Ellis as Océanic prospects. Ellis was traded to Rimouski from the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on Saturday for a first-round draft pick, originally belonging to Sherbrooke, in the 2018 QMJHL Entry Draft.

Morris wasn’t the only Islanders player to be drafted at the Q draft on Saturday.

Logan Chisholm of Upper Pomquet was selected by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in round two, No. 35 overall, while Jacob Stewart of Antigonish was picked by the Moncton Wildcats in round 3, No. 43 overall. Sean Stewart of Antigonish was also selected by the Wildcats in round 11, No. 194 overall.

Jacob Denny, Tyler Mortimer and Tytan Donovan of the Cape Breton Unionized Tradesmen were each ranked by QMJHL Central Scouting, but were not selected by any teams.
