No naps this week

Plenty of appointments

- Kathy Golemiec Kathy’s Diary

Hey there, it’s me, Kathy. How was your week?

Mine was like a chapter out of a Steven King novel. I’m still running to the bathroom every few minutes. I went to the Valley Village store and as soon as I got there I had to run and I mean run to the bathroom. So the whole way down the alley I said, I can make it, I can make it.

When I came out there was a lady there and she asked, did you make it? Yup, luckily there was one empty.

I get to see the specialist in two weeks. I don’t feel so bad if I’m sitting but stand up and off I run.

Weight Wise, I’m at 139 - I finally did it. It took me a year but I did it. Now I’ll try to stay there for a while and then I’ll try to get to 135. I’m happy just to be under the 140 mark. Happy days.

I went and got a cortisone shot in my thumb today. It sure did sting. When I went to get up after I got the shot the room started spinning. It took a couple tries to get up. My thumb is feeling better. My shoulder is really sore. I will have to get that done again.

Tomorrow I have to see the surgeon to get my toenail off. I don’t even like the thought of it. He is only going to freeze my toe with a needle. Just the thought of that makes me want to pass out and my stomach gets sick. I had half of that done years ago and I never got over the thought of those needles yet.

Mary is going with me to hold my hand or hit me in the head and knock me out when no one is looking.

Tomorrow is not going to be a happy day.

Actually I’m scared. Not just my wimpy scared - this is worse than being in the middle of a Stephen King novel. Hopefully it will grow back normally and I won’t have to get it done again. I may have to get both of the big toes done. But you can only get one done at a time.

It seems like all week I have appointments. I don’t mind if there are no needles involved. I haven’t had a nap all week in the afternoon.

This week was Calvin’s birthday. Happy birthday, Calvin, the cake tasted great.

The cancer doctor took my bone filler medicine down to every other month. I have to see the heart specialist the end of the month. My numbers are good. My counts are good on everything. Hopefully when they do the full body scan next month there will be no cancer in my kidneys or bladder.

I got my garden going. It looks like a garden gone wild. There is no planning to it - just flowers and greenery. I think it looks pretty and there is no mowing in the front anymore.

Dad and Janet won’t be over again this weekend. They are going to have a yard sale in Belmont.

The flea market wasn’t too bad this week. I like going there and seeing my friends. I talk to more people in one day than I do all week.

Thank you for the letters and gifts. I still have a few openings to do talks if your group is looking for a speaker. Just call The New Glasgow News for more information.

Tip of the week: Now that the weather is getting warmer teens and preteens think it’s time to wear as little clothes as possible. But they have to remember the suntan lotion. Sunburns are just as bad as getting radiation

And what’s even worse are tanning booths. If you have to get a tan get a fake spray tan. It doesn’t come with the radiation. Sometimes the radiation burn doesn’t come out until years later and when you get skin cancer it doesn’t look so good then. So think twice before you go out without the suntan lotion or before you get on a tanning bed. There is nothing wrong with looking like a tourist.

When the weather gets really hot make sure you drink more water so you don’t get dehydrated.

This week was my baby girl’s first anniversary. It’s hard to believe how fast the time flies. Happy anniversary, Kerry and Dave.

Have a good week folks. The skunks are out so be careful going out in the dark.
