Sex charged against Glace Bay man dismissed
SYDNEY — A charge of sexual assault has been dismissed against a Glace Bay man.
Kenneth Thomas Gaskell, 72, of Lower MacLean Street, was alleged to have committed the offence in July in Glace Bay. Gaskell was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on the charge last week but prior to the start of the hearing, the Crown dismissed the charge without comment.
It is understood that in dismissing a charge, in the absence of any other reason, the Crown is conceding there was no reasonable prospect for a successful prosecution.
