SOONERS COMPLETE SERIES SWEEP

The Sydney Sooners (6-1) posted a 3-0 win over the Truro Bearcats on Saturday to sweep a two-game home set. Logan Aker (above) pitched the win, with relief from Justin Brewer, and Reilly O’Rourke, who earned the save. Jordan Johnson was tagged with the loss. Devin Mahoney launched a two-run homer in the first and added a double in the win. Jordon Shepherd hit two singles and stole a pair of bases and Chris Farrow added a single. Justin Morton hit two singles for Truro. Friday, Mahoney struck out nine batters and picked up his second win of the season in a 10-0 triumph in eight innings. Sheldon MacDonald came in to pitch the eighth. Jason Smith took the loss. Sean Ferguson hit three singles and drove in two runs. Farrow had a double, two singles, two RBI and two stolen bases, while Josh Forrest had two singles, Cory Christie swatted two singles and had two RBI and Shepherd had a single and two RBI. John Chapman and Darson Murphy had singles for Truro. The Sooners hit the road to play the Kentville Wildcats, June 23-24, before hosting Kentville for two games, July 7-8.
