It is with deep sadness that we the family of Janet Talbot announce her passing. Mom entered into rest on March 13, 2017 at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay.

Born in Glace Bay on January 21, 1937, she was the daughter of the late George Gilmet and Annie Spracklin.

Known to everyone as Jen, she was a long time resident of Copley Street, Glace Bay. Janet was a stay at home mom of 10 children, who kept her very busy. As children and grownups we looked forward to and will always remember her cooking and baking for us. She deeply enjoyed her many summer visits with her children and grandchild­ren in Ontario. Jen loved the company of her family and never turned down an opportunit­y to be with them. Visiting her brother, Vick and being in the presence of his humor always made her day. She liked to stay active and could be seen walking daily, she also enjoyed dancing.

Jen is survived by her husband, William Talbot; five daughters, Cathy (Jack MacDonald), Glace Bay, Kelly, Dartmouth, Joanne, Ontario, Gloria, Sydney, Lerita (Allen Murrin), Glace Bay; five sons, Billy, Blaine, Dwaine, Allistair, all in Ontario, Freddie (Bernadette Sharpe), Glace Bay; son-in-law, Darrell Campbell; daughter-inlaw, Jill Talbot; sister, Georgina Matthews, Dartmouth and her brother, Victor Gilmet, Glace Bay.

Also surviving are numerous grandchild­ren, great and greatgreat-grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jen was predecease­d by her grandson, Michael Currie; sister, Kay and four brothers, Ned, James “Buster”, Sam and Tom.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m., all in V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Rev. Robert “Bob” Biggar officiatin­g. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
