Donald Howard Cameron passed away peacefully on June 22, 2017 at Glace Bay Hospital with his family at his side.

Donald was born on December 29, 1916 in New Glasgow, NS and he was a proud son of Pictou County.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Rosella (nee Crewe); daughters, Donna (Barry), Shirley, Karen (Wallace) and son, Gary (Grace Marie). He will be truly missed by his nine grandchild­ren and 10 greatgrand­children. He was a proud WW II veteran. Upon returning to civilian life he worked for 14 years at Devco’s tub shop. He then worked for 21 years at Canada Post both as a letter carrier and later as the Supervisor of letter carriers. He was an incredible carpenter and several houses in the Glace Bay area display his amazing handiwork. For many years, until its closing, he was an active member of Epworth United Church. He was a choir member, Sunday school teacher and Superinten­dent of the Sunday School.

He was predecease­d by his parents, Howard Huntley and Sophie (Reid) Cameron; brother, Allister and grandson, Mark Oldford (1978).

Special thanks to the VON, Margaret Treige, Shelly Davidson, Betty Campbell and Brian Ferguson for helping to make his final years in his own home so comfortabl­e. Many thanks to Dr. Kent Cadegan and the 3rd floor nursing staff of the Glace Bay General Hospital for such wonderful care.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 26th from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, Union St., Glace Bay.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27th at Newsom United Church, Dominion Street in Glace Bay.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in his memory be made to Newsom United Church or the charity of your choice.
