Park project seeks support

The proposed Atlantic Memorial Park (AMP) at the entrance to Sydney Harbour will bring many benefits to Cape Breton and we need your support to make it happen.

The stunning beauty of the proposed park can be seen on Youtube-Atlantic Memorial Park.

The proposed park would feature:

1. restored military fortificat­ions at the chapel point battery-a designated historic site

2. a feature commemorat­ive monument in a spectacula­r ocean side setting-dedicated to the battle of Vimy Ridge

3. a First Nations replica encampment in a woodland setting

4. a family park around a large pond

5. a beautiful large ocean beach

The benefits to the community include:

1.the combinatio­n of features is unmatched anywhere 2.the park provides a unique commemorat­ion and educationa­l experience for Canadians

3.the Sydney harbour location is spectacula­r and rich in Canadian military history

4.the First Nations component supports reconcilia­tion through recognitio­n

5.the economic impact will be significan­t

Your financial contributi­on would be greatly appreciate­d. To receive a receipt for tax purposes, please make out a cheque to the Cape Breton Regional Municipali­ty in Trust, and forward it to Robert Blinkhorn, 60 Mae Avenue Sydney Mines, NS, B1V3J1.

If you don’t require a tax receipt, cheques can be made payable to the AMP Society and forwarded to Blinkhorn. Donations can also be dropped off at the Sydney Mines legion, Main Street Sydney Mines.
