BAKER, Charles Philip

Charlie was born on September 24, 1940 in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, NS and passed away suddenly on July 8, 2017 of a massive heart attack in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, NS.

He spent his childhood in Louisbourg and from there went into the fisheries industry. He married in 1959 and has four children. Relocated to Lunenburg and Hantsport counties before moving the family to BC. Once settle, he started working at Canadian General Electric until retirement in 1993, after which he returned to Cape Breton to spend his retirement years.

Charlie is survived by his spouse, Bernice (Morrison); children, Everett (Deborah), Grand Forks, BC, Phillip (Tanya), Edmonton, AB, Ian, Edmonton, AB and Charlene (Tim) James, Surrey, BC; grandchild­ren, Christine-Ann (David) Fisher, Aaron, Hannah (Adam) Kalesnikof­f, all from Grand Forks, BC, Patrick Gahan, Surrey, BC, Mike (Chantal), Grand Prairie, AB, Anthony( Megumi), Edmonton, AB, Melissa (Matt Belair) James, Langley, BC, Jessie James, Burnaby and Jeremiah James, Surrey, BC; great grandchild­ren, Cassius Baker, Ariel and Souichiro Baker; mother, Wilma Baker (Wilcox); sister, Eileen Anderson (Baker); brother, Brent Baker (Joanne), and nieces, Courtney and Erica Baker, and many extended families.

Visitation will take place 7-9 p.m., Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Mighty Fortress Church of God, 7437 Main St., Louisbourg. Graveside internment will be Saturday, July 15, 2017, 1 p.m. from the St. Batholomew’s Cemetery, Louisbourg, Rev. Sheldon Chant and Everett Baker officiatin­g.
