Gordie retired from Sydney Steel after 30 years of employment, and was then lucky enough to have found enjoyment working at Mira River Provincial Park as the Assistant Caretaker. He got the most pleasure in meeting different people from all over the country.

The highlight of Gordie’s week was his Sunday suppers, enjoyed by his loving family and dearest friends.

Gordie is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of 30 years; children, Gordie (Michelle), Kim (Steve), Bobby (Kim), Colleen (Rob) and Jolene (Chris); 16 grandchildren, and 16 greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Hanna (Ray) and Roy (Donna), special friend, Darlene Boudreau.

Besides his parents, Gordie is also predeceased by numerous aunts and uncles. The family would like to thank the staff of 4C and Palliative Care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Palliative Care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
