CAREY, Lawrence (Lawrency) Weldon

With heavy hearts, we sadly announce Lawrence (Lawrency) passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Thunder Bay, Ontario on July 16, 2017 at the age of 75.

Born June 13, 1942 in Bras d’Or, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Joe-Joe and Dorothy (Long) Carey.

He left home at a very early age and headed to Ontario to sail the Great Lakes. Ontario remained his home, but he came back for visits whenever he could. He really enjoyed spending time with his family during those trips. He loved a good bingo game and faithfully made phone calls to all of his family and friends on every single holiday. Those short but sweet calls will be greatly missed by each of us.

He leaves behind his daughter, Christine; grandchild­ren, Tyler, Kacey-Lynn, Sierra and Tesla; great-grandchild­ren, Andrea, Jordyn, Mia, Mason, Eiden, Rosalie and Spencer; brothers, Wayne (Rose), Carl (Lillian),Vernon, Brian (Arlene), Kevin (Leslie), and Billy (Gina); sisters, Sara Dealhoy (Wayne), Darlene Devoe (Melvin), Brenda Snow (Wayne) and Melody (Glen); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and George and the “boys” in Thunder Bay.

Besides his parents, He was predecease­d by his brothers, Lester, Sheldon and Jude.

At his request, cremation has taken place. The funeral mass to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday August 8, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Parish Church in Bras d’Or at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow at the church hall.
