MACKINNON, Mary Adele ‘Dellie’ (Cochrane)

-

On Wednesday, July 19, 2017, a proud “Morien” girl passed away, after a warrior’s battle with Alzheimer’s. Adele (Cochrane) MacKinnon, age 75, known as Dellie to her family and friends, lived her entire life in Port Morien. She was the daughter of the late Bernard Charles and Eunice May (Timmons) Cochrane. She was very close to her brothers, Blaine and Myron and enjoyed telling stories of when they all were young.

Dellie loved to read a good book and it was a sad day when Alzheimer’s robbed her of this ability. When the time came to enter nursing care, her only request was to be able to see the ocean. Seaview Manor made a perfect home and she was very happy there under their excellent care.

Dellie was predeceased by her parents; husband, George, and her brother, Blaine.

She is survived by daughters, Bernadette and Carrie Lynne; grandchildren, Emily, Gregory and Nichole; brother, Myron (Margie) Cochrane; sister-in-law, Brenda Cochrane; brother-in-law, Robert (Hazel) MacKinnon, and her sister-inlaw, Lorraine (John) MacDonald.

There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Port Morien followed by interment in the parish cemetery. Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. A reception will take place at the fire hall, Port Morien.

Memorial donations may be made to Seaview Manor, Glace Bay.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay.
