CONRAD, Samuel Wallace ‘Sam’

It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Samuel ‘Sam’ Conrad, age 70, announce his passing on July 21, 2017 at New Waterford Hospital.

Born in New Glasgow, June 27, 1947, he was the son of the late Frank and Margaret (Wallace) Conrad.

Sam was a member of St. Leonard’s Parish; he worked as a pastry chef in Halifax at the Lord Nelson and also served in the Army for three years. Sam worked as an auto mechanic for forty years at Spikes Garage in New Waterford. He had a passion for gardening, was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Argonauts.

He is survived by sisters, Sue Ann Huckle (late Jim), Dartmouth, Ruby (Bert) Davis, New Waterford, Margie (Norm) McMullin, Texas, Maureen (Rene) Dommestrup­p, Florida, Diana and Tammy Smith, Eastern Passage; brothers, Millan, New Waterford and Stephen (Diane), Wesphal; sisters-inlaw, Judy (late Bennie) Farrell, Carol (Peter) MacKinnon, Doris (David) Rigby, Nancy (Tony) McKinnon and Donna Lee (late David) Coady, and brothers-inlaw, Hal (Karen) Coady, Ambrose ‘Amby’ (Carmel) Coady, Joe (late Charmaine), Gerald (Debbie) and Chris. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Besides his parents, Sam was predecease­d by his devoted wife of 41 years, Maxine (Coady), and a brother, Frankie.

Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 12 noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. all in V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Father Ray Huntley officiatin­g. Immediatel­y following the service a reception will be held in the funeral home.
