It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Glenda Marie Dillon, age 65, on Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney while surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Tutty) Boutilier of Wadden’s Cove.

Glenda worked at various jobs throughout her lifetime, this included Mike’s Lunch, Victoria Haven Nursing Home and H. Hopkins Fish Company. She was a member of the Port Morien Mixed Dart League. Glenda was a caring lady who loved her family and grandchild­ren dearly. She was described as a, “True Cove’er”, who loved telling stories and was known to have a great dry sense of humour.

Glenda is survived by her husband, John Dillon; four daughters, Wonda (Keith) Boone, Jeanette (John) McNeil, both in Birch Grove, Francine (Terry) Butts, Halifax and Mary Dillon (Jeff McIsaac), Glace Bay; nine grandchild­ren, Dylan, Kristopher, Emma, Malcolm, Matthew, Maria, Jeffrey, Skyla, Abbey; nieces, nephews, cousins, and her dear friend, Janice Boutilier.

Besides her parents, Glenda was predecease­d by a brother and sister in infancy; two sisters, Lilly Keats and Amy ‘Ted’ Wadden, and a granddaugh­ter, Georgina.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Myrna MacMullin, is Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel followed by interment in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, Blackbrook.

Memorial donations in Glenda’s memory may be made to Palliative Care.
