Jail sentence and driving prohibitio­n issued to Sydney man

SYDNEY — A Sydney man has been jailed for 60 days and prohibited from driving for three years after entering guilty pleas. Brent Michael MacSween, 29, was sentenced after pleading guilty to two counts of driving while disqualifi­ed and a single count of breaching a court order.

The offences occurred in 2016 in Groves Point and North Sydney. MacSween is also to return to provincial court Aug. 1 to enter pleas on causing animals (two dogs) to be in distress and failing to provide adequate medical attention to animals. In relation to the animal charges, he is charged jointly with a female co-accused who is also to appear on that date to enter pleas. In addition, MacSween is to appear Sept. 19 to enter pleas on two counts of breaching court orders and single count of assault that are alleged to have occurred in Sydney July 13.
