Jail sen­tence and driv­ing pro­hi­bi­tion is­sued to Syd­ney man

SYD­NEY — A Syd­ney man has been jailed for 60 days and pro­hib­ited from driv­ing for three years af­ter en­ter­ing guilty pleas. Brent Michael MacSween, 29, was sen­tenced af­ter plead­ing guilty to two counts of driv­ing while dis­qual­i­fied and a sin­gle count of breach­ing a court or­der.

The of­fences oc­curred in 2016 in Groves Point and North Syd­ney. MacSween is also to re­turn to pro­vin­cial court Aug. 1 to en­ter pleas on caus­ing an­i­mals (two dogs) to be in dis­tress and fail­ing to pro­vide ad­e­quate med­i­cal at­ten­tion to an­i­mals. In re­la­tion to the an­i­mal charges, he is charged jointly with a fe­male co-ac­cused who is also to ap­pear on that date to en­ter pleas. In ad­di­tion, MacSween is to ap­pear Sept. 19 to en­ter pleas on two counts of breach­ing court or­ders and sin­gle count of as­sault that are al­leged to have oc­curred in Syd­ney July 13.
