Thursday, August 3rd
9 AM- Doll Carriage and Bike Parade: Located at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 008.
10 AM- Kite Making: Located at the Princess Family Center, pre-registration required. Please call (902) 549-0087.
11 AM - 3 PM- Jail and Bail: Issue a warrant for someone’s arrest requiring them to raise “Bail money” in order to be released. Proceeds go towards Johnston Crescent Youth Center and the Sydney Mines Community Policing Office. Contact (902) 565-5828, for further information.
1 PM- Canadian 150 Workshop: Join us at the Martha Holllett Memorial Library, for an hour of fun and crafts to help celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday. Pre-registration required, please contact the library at (902) 736-3219 to register.
2-4 pm - Touch a Truck - Head down to the Sydney Mines Volunteer Fire Department to be able to take a look at the fire trucks and say thank you to our firemen for the great job they do!
6:00 PM- Parade Line Up: Located on Shore Road, Sydney Mines.
6:30 PM- Parade: The parade will form on Shore Road, turn left onto Main Street, turning left onto McKay Street, and then left into Holy Family Parish parking lot where the parade will disperse. To register an entry please call 902-549-0087.
Official Opening and Cake Cutting/ Canada 150 Celebration: After the Parade join us at the Holy Family Parish Hall to help us officially open the 15th annual Johnny Miles Festival and celebrate Canada 150. Parade awards will be presented at this time.
Friday, August 4th
9 AM- Johnny Miles Annual Track and Field: Head down to the Pitt Street walking track and sign up for our 9th Annual Kids Track and Field to encourage physical activity, and have fun while doing it. Event begins at 10 AM.
2 - 4 PM Kids Fest: Located at the Sydney Mines and District Community Center. The cost is $1.00. Enjoy a fun filled afternoon for the whole family.
7 - 9 PM- Kids Karaoke: Located at the Princess Family Center, Sydney Mines. Music by Jokers Wild Entertainment. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
10 pm - 2 am - The Underground - Featuring Entertainment by the Stone Chasers.
Saturday, August 5th
9 AM- Johnny Miles Memorial 5k Road Race Registration: Join us at the John J. Nugent Fireman’s Center on Elliot Street, Sydney Mines, and sign up for our premier event. Registration is $10.00. For further information please contact Kim Rideout at 902-574-3773.
10 AM- The 29th Annual Johnny Miles Memorial 5k Road Race: Runners will participate in our annual 5k race to the finish.
2 - 4 PM- 13th Antique Car and Bike Show: Located on Main Street, Sydney Mines across from Robin’s Donuts. This is a free event and awards will be presented to the best cars and bikes. Donations for the Food Bank will be accepted.
8 PM- Sydney Mines Seniors and Pensioners Dance: Entertainment by R&B Country.
Sunday, August 6th
1 - 4 PM- Seniors Luncheon: Please join us in attending our annual luncheon at the Sydney Mines Seniors and Pensioners Club. Enjoy an afternoon of entertainment, great food, and prizes!
7 - 8 PM- Caper Con and Underworld LARP Cape Breton: Guildhouse Tempest Grove: Enjoy a fun and interactive event for the children. Located at the Pitt Street Ball Field.
7 - 10 PM- Closing Concert: Located at the Pitt Street Ball Field, Sydney Mines. Our lineup includes: Johnny Miles Opening Performance by The Family Tree Band, and our main stage performance by Alter Ego!
10 PM- Fireworks: Help us close out this year’s festival with a bang!
Rain Date for Closing Concert will be on Sunday, Aug 13th
