Krista Vigneault (Murphy), of Dartmouth, passed away on August 2, 2017 at the Halifax Infirmary, with her loving family by her side.

Krista was born on Christmas Day of 1964 in Halifax to Joseph Murphy and the late Valerie Gilmet (Matheson). She grew up in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia before settling in Halifax where she raised her family. She studied Child Studies and Psychology at Mount Saint Vincent University.

Krista was a wonderful mother, devoting her life to loving and nurturing her children, Hannah and Sam, exposing them to all of the joys that life has to offer. She shared with her children her love of reading, theatre, music and the arts. She was exceptiona­lly close to her only sister and best friend, Micki. Krista enjoyed travelling, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Krista’s kind-hearted, compassion­ate personalit­y made her well-suited for her work caring for seniors and she developed long lasting relationsh­ips with the clients she served. She was a beloved member of her community and was always willing to volunteer her time at school and community events.

Everyone who came to the house felt welcome. Krista had a way of listening to everyone, making them feel special and cared for. Her house was often full of friends and family, music, food and laughter.

She will be lovingly remembered for her positive, sunny nature by her children, Hannah and Sam Vigneault; sister, Micki Murphy, and father, Joe Murphy. She is also survived by many family members, Wanda Chisholm, Randy Gilmet (Joanne), Cindi Barrett (Tony), Gregory Murphy (Florence), Theresa Banfield (George), Maureen McIntosh (Bill), Bernie Murphy (Marilyn), Pat Murphy (Marilyn), Kevin Murphy (Sheila), many cousins, and close friend, Trevor White.

She was predecease­d by her mother, Valerie Matheson; aunt and uncle, Judy and Bill Wilson; uncles, Victor Gilmet and Doug Campbell, and aunt, Elizabeth O’Keefe.

Krista will be laid to rest on Friday, August 11 at 11 a.m. at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens in Sydney. There will be a reception at St. Mary’s Church, 8 Marconi St. in Glace Bay following the graveside service, all are welcome.

If you so wish, donations can be made in Krista’s name to the Adsum House for Women and Children or the Feral and Abandoned Cats Society of Cape Breton.
