It is with deep sad­ness and sor­row that we an­nounce the pass­ing of

Dun­can B. McInnis. De­voted and lov­ing hus­band, cher­ished father, brother, un­cle, grand­fa­ther and friend. Born Novem­ber 14, 1938 in Florence CB, to the late Rod­er­ick and Florence (Hosk­ing) McInnis, af­ter mov­ing to Ge­orge’s River he be­came a life time res­i­dent of the com­mu­nity. Dun­can re­tired in 2000 and spent time trav­el­ing across Canada vis­it­ing fam­ily and friends. Dun­can had a pas­sion for his Scotch mu­sic and his home­land of Cape Breton.

He is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife and soul mate of 58 years, Yvonne (Vick­ers) McInnis; their five chil­dren, Fran­cis (Janet) Rusag­o­nis, Geral­dine (Mike Cantrill), Cal­gary, John Hugh (Shel­ley), Mid­dle Sackville, Joseph (Michelle), Syd­ney Mines, Wayne, Rainier, Alta.; ten grand­chil­dren, Wayne, Michelle, Leah, Breton, Con­nor, Joseph, Evan, Sara­fina, Gemma; three great grand­chil­dren, Hen­drix, Kash, Hud­son; sis­ter, Annette (Os­lund); broth­ers, Rod, Hugh, Far­rell (Frances) and Tom; broth­ers-in-law, Richard Vick­ers (Marg) and Rev. John Vick­ers; sis­ters-in-law, Gerry (MacIn­nis) and Theresa (MacLean). He also leaves be­hind nu­mer­ous cousins, nieces and neph­ews and many friends who he loved dearly.

Dun­can was pre­de­ceased by his broth­ers, John, Bill and Elmer; sis­ters, Emma, Vi­ola, Frances, An­ge­line and Mary; daugh­ter-in-law, Leah (McK­in­non); grand­son, Sean Cantrill, along with his in-laws and ex­tended fam­ily mem­bers.

The fam­ily would like to pass along sin­cere thanks to the nurses and Doc­tors at the Car­dio­vas­cu­lar unit, fam­ily Doc­tor Peter Pou­los, many home care­givers, fam­ily and neigh­bour’s that have pro­vided ex­cel­lent care and sup­port to both of our par­ents.

There is no vis­i­ta­tion but Fu­neral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. on Satur­day, Au­gust 12, 2017, at St. Joseph Church Bras d’Or with Father Peter McLeod of­fi­ci­at­ing. Fol­low­ing the Mass all are in­vited to join the fam­ily for re­fresh­ments at the Royal Cana­dian Le­gion, Florence.

In lieu of flow­ers me­mo­rial do­na­tions may be made to the lo­cal Kid­ney or Liver Foun­da­tion.
