MCINNIS, Duncan (Buddy)

It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of

Duncan B. McInnis. Devoted and loving husband, cherished father, brother, uncle, grandfathe­r and friend. Born November 14, 1938 in Florence CB, to the late Roderick and Florence (Hosking) McInnis, after moving to George’s River he became a life time resident of the community. Duncan retired in 2000 and spent time traveling across Canada visiting family and friends. Duncan had a passion for his Scotch music and his homeland of Cape Breton.

He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 58 years, Yvonne (Vickers) McInnis; their five children, Francis (Janet) Rusagonis, Geraldine (Mike Cantrill), Calgary, John Hugh (Shelley), Middle Sackville, Joseph (Michelle), Sydney Mines, Wayne, Rainier, Alta.; ten grandchild­ren, Wayne, Michelle, Leah, Breton, Connor, Joseph, Evan, Sarafina, Gemma; three great grandchild­ren, Hendrix, Kash, Hudson; sister, Annette (Oslund); brothers, Rod, Hugh, Farrell (Frances) and Tom; brothers-in-law, Richard Vickers (Marg) and Rev. John Vickers; sisters-in-law, Gerry (MacInnis) and Theresa (MacLean). He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends who he loved dearly.

Duncan was predecease­d by his brothers, John, Bill and Elmer; sisters, Emma, Viola, Frances, Angeline and Mary; daughter-in-law, Leah (McKinnon); grandson, Sean Cantrill, along with his in-laws and extended family members.

The family would like to pass along sincere thanks to the nurses and Doctors at the Cardiovasc­ular unit, family Doctor Peter Poulos, many home caregivers, family and neighbour’s that have provided excellent care and support to both of our parents.

There is no visitation but Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at St. Joseph Church Bras d’Or with Father Peter McLeod officiatin­g. Following the Mass all are invited to join the family for refreshmen­ts at the Royal Canadian Legion, Florence.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the local Kidney or Liver Foundation.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.
