BLACK, William (Bill)
It is with sadness and regret that we wish to announce the death of William (Bill) George Arthur Black, 79, of North Sydney, Nova Scotia on August 14, 2017.
Bill was born in Montreal and grew up in Bedford, NS. In his youth, he served in the Navy. His career path then led him to meteorology, where he was easily recognized as a local radio ‘personality,’ with his wry and witty sense of humour while doing the weather forecasts. Bill also became a well-known real estate broker and appraiser for 47 years. He also played an integral role in establishing the Cape Breton Real Estate Board.
Bill also had a passion for travel and also loved to sail the Bras d’Or Lakes. He also had a soft spot for his family, whom he loved very much.
Bill is survived by his wife, Rhonda (nee Jackson); two sons and a daughter (from his previous marriage to Barbara Black), Greg Black (Shirleen) of Queen’s County, NS, Heather Black (Ali Ateshi) of Stouffville, ON and Sean Black (Tammy MacDonald) of Sydney Mines, NS; as well as his step-son, Terry Clark (Trish) of Prime Brook, NS, and step-daughter, Tracey Clark (Clary Dove) of North Sydney. Bill has nine grandchildren, Justin, Madison, Ethan, Brody, Kylie, Nicole, Jakob, Zach and Lukas, as well as one greatgrandchild, Amelia. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Hines.
He was predeceased by his father, George, and his Mother, Elizabeth.
The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their care and attention, especially from the Emergency, Cardiac Care and Palliative Care units.
The family will be holding a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke foundation or the charity of your choice.
