MCCRACKEN, Danny James

-

Main a Dieu

After a joyful and fulfilled life, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Danny McCracken at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on August 30, 2017. Born in Ontario, he was the son of the late Peter and Neata McCracken.

For many years, he worked as a foreman on the Great Lake Boats. He was known to be a hardworking man both at work and at home. Dan was so passionate about life. He loved building, repairing things and gardening. He had a fondness for birds and animals, too.

Dan enjoyed volunteering with the Legion whenever he could, and was ever mindful of the sacrifices of our veterans.

Dan loved to dance, travel and spend time with his family. Dan had an unprecedented love for his children and his grandchildren, and adored his great-granddaughter, Bella, who spent countless hours with ‘Poppy and Nan’.

Sadly heartbroken, are his beloved wife, Irma; daughter, Wendy; granddaughter, Samantha, and great-granddaughter, Bella.

Danny is survived by his brother, David (Sally) of Sarnia, Ontario, and his sister, Ruth (Paul), of Inwood, Ontario. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Jeff (Ohio), and his daughter, Marie (California), and their families, as well as countless family members and friends, here and abroad.

A brief service and a celebration of Danny’s life will take place at 6 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in the S.W. Chant & Son funeral home, 564 Alexandra St., Rev. Sheldon Chant, officiating.
