The days of summer are numbered but in Richmond we never let that stop us from enjoying the start of the days leading up to fall.

Don’t put away your dancing shoes just yet. Check out some of the events that are being planned for this week.

On September 9, be prepared to enjoy the Last Bash of Summer Beer Garden Party with live music from the bands on the Groundswell’s deck. To celebrate their amazing summer, the Groundswell Pub in D’Escousse, on the beautiful island of Isle Madame, will be hosting an end of summer garden party in their newly, fully-licensed beer garden. The bocce will be out, the washer toss will be set, the beer will be cold and the bands will be hot. Playing from the deck to the outdoor crowd, starting at 4 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Ross Rankin will headline the entertainment along with appearances by Rene Fougere and Jon Hines. Cost of admission is a donation at the door. This may not be a farewell to summer but really a celebration of the fall.

On September 10, come to the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Loch Lomond and enjoy a celebration in song with Coro Cantabile. Cora Cantabile is a 12 member women’s choir under the direction of Jim MacNeil from Sydney whose voices are amazing. The choir will be joined by Barb Stetter, Paul Gatchell and Doug Johnson for an spectacular afternoon of music starting at 3 p.m. Admission is a free will offering. There will also be a turkey supper (optional) following the concert held in the Loch Lomond Fire Hall at a cost of $15. If you are looking for an uplifting afternoon of music, this event is for you.

If you enjoy country music at its best, mark September 17 on your calendar and take in the pirate’s tea at the St. Peter’s Fire Hall (upstairs) in St. Peter’s. Performing from 1 to 3 p.m. will be the Nova Scotia Hall of Fame country artist Robert Bouchard. Admission is advance tickets $15, at the door $20 and children under 13, $5. A lunch will also be served. This is a fundraiser for the Nicolas Denys Museum. Tickets are on sale at the Nicolas Denys Museum and at C&M Video in St. Peter’s.

And a reminder the St. Peter’s Pirate Days will take place from September 14 to 17.
