It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a wonderful and sincere woman; a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r, sister, aunt and friend. Viola, age 93, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, in long-term care unit of the Glace Bay Hospital where she had resided the last number of months.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late John and Myria (Yorke) Allison and was a member of Warden United Church, Glace Bay.

Viola was a very kind hearted person and everyone knew they could always go to Nana’s house; her home was often called “The Do Drop Inn”. She will mainly be remembered for her times spent with her loving family and friends, she was a true family woman who would grasp every opportunit­y life offered her to have fun and enjoyment. She had a great sense of humor, enjoyed playing Bingo and during her quiet times she truly enjoyed a good cup of tea and a cigarette.

Viola is survived by her daughters, Sheila (Leonard) Lynk, Glace Bay and Linda (Tom) McMullin, Trenton, ON; son, Robert (Donna) Burchell, Annapolis Valley; brother, Jim (Theresa) Allison, Glace Bay;14 grandchild­ren; 17 great-grandchild­ren; daughters-in-law, Deanna Deane, Juanita Dean; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her parents and several brothers and sisters, she was also predecease­d by her husband, Douglas Joseph Deane; daughter, Diane Hill, and sons, Douglas Joseph, Donald John, and a son in infancy. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Carol Gillard, will be celebrated 2 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017, in V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.

Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay.
