Syd­ney Mines

It is with heavy hearts we an­nounce the pass­ing of Do­minic Paul Marinelli, age 67, on Septem­ber 14, 2017 af­ter the most coura­geous bat­tle with can­cer.

Born in Syd­ney Mines on Septem­ber 21, 1949, Do­minic “Burpy” was the son of the late An­to­nio and Edna (Best) Marinelli.

Burpy was a hard work­ing mem­ber of the Labourer’s In­ter­na­tional Loc. 1115 for many years be­fore he re­tired from North­ern Con­tract­ing Lim­ited. He loved fish­ing, go­ing for drives in his truck, bak­ing, cook­ing and play­ing soli­taire. Ev­ery­one who met Burpy fell in love with his sweet and funny per­son­al­ity.

Left to cher­ish his mem­ory are his wife Mar­ion; sons, Wayne (Katrina) and Paul (Reta); daugh­ter, Kat (Amy); grand­kids, Lo­gan, Sean, Do­minic, Emily and Sawyer; sis­ters, Louise (Carl), Nora (Ernie), Mary (Si­mon), Cathy (David); broth­ers, David (Lynda), Phillip (Donna), Brian (Joanne), Fran­cis (Brid­gette) and John. He also leaves be­hind many nieces, neph­ews, in-laws, friends and his best lit­tle buddy, Lucy.

Be­sides his par­ents, Burpy was pre­de­ceased by his broth­ers, Robert and An­thony.

The fam­ily would like to send a warm thank you to all of the won­der­ful staff in the Pal­lia­tive Care Unit of the CBRH. You all made Burpy and his fam­ily feel so com­fort­able and at ease. Also, a huge, lov­ing thank you to ev­ery­one who showed so much love and sup­port. Your time, gen­eros­ity and your love will for­ever be em­bed­ded in the thoughts and hearts of Burpy’s im­me­di­ate fam­ily.

Visi­ta­tion for Do­minic Marinelli will be held on Tues­day, Septem­ber 19, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with a ser­vice to Cel­e­brate his life to fol­low at 3 p.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Syd­ney Mines, with Dea­con Greg Mur­phy of­fi­ci­at­ing.

In Lieu of flow­ers dona­tions can be made to the SPCA.
